Tendonitis of any type can be quite serious.  There are some preventitive measures you can take to avoid your risk of developing tendonitis.  Here are some stretches you can perform in the convenience of your own home that could help relieve your symptoms of tendonitis.

Tendonitis Cause

More often than not, tendonitis is usually caused by a sports-related injury.  If the tendons are not warmed up properly prior to physicaol activity, you could be prone to tendonitis.  Over-abuse or overuse of the tendons when they are cold could promote tears and injury.  TendonItis is caused by friction between the joints and muscles.  If not treated promptly, the tendons can be torn which could lead to surgery.

Some people have sought out chiropracters and accupuncturists to relieve the chronic pain due to tendonitis and the ever-present symptoms.  This has helped many but does take a number of treatments and time to feel any results.  There is a new therapy called “dry needing” that produces tremenduous results in significantly less time than the conventional treatments.

Dry Needing:

Dry needling basically consists of a therapist sticking a small gauge needle into the affected muscle, ligament or tendon. Either the therapist aims for a trigger point that loosens up the muscle and returns range-of-motion to the area, or uses to the needle to cause small amounts of damage to the tissue. That may sound contradictory, but DeFalco says it's key to the healing process. …More at New therapy offers quick relief – WBTW – Myrtle Beach and Florence SC

From Tendonitis to Liver and Kidney Disease

You ask yourself: “How can may tendonitis possibility lead to liver or even kidney disease?”.  The reason might not be so obvious but the plain truth is that tendonitis or symptoms of tendonitis can cause chronic pain and inflammation in the joints.  In order to relieve the pain and inflammation, a person  will usually take an over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen or some other pain reliever.  Herein lies the rub.  You may “temporarily” relieve your painful symptoms BUT, if you overuse these pain killers and NSAIDs, you are in danger of developing liver or kidney disease.

Purpose of Kidneys:

According to WedMD, the kidneys' function are to filter the blood. All the blood in our bodies passes through the kidneys several times a day. The kidneys remove wastes, control the body's fluid balance, and regulate the balance of electrolytes. As the kidneys filter blood, they create urine, which collects in the kidneys' pelvis — funnel-shaped structures that drain down tubes called ureters to the bladder.

Damage to the kidneys may cause any one of the following, just to name a few:  kidney stones, chronic renal failure, nephratic syndrome, kidney cancer.

Purpose of the Liver:

WebMD states that the liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body. The liver also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.

Diseases and Conditions:

Abusing pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs can also lead to the following diseases and conditions to the kidney and liver, respecively:

  • Kidney stones, chronic renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, kidney cancer
  • Liver cancer, hepatitis, cirrhosis, gallstones

Arthritis Pain and Cold Weather

The onset of winter weather brings chronic pain for those suffering from various types of tendonitis, as well as those with rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. Chronic pain is more prevalent during the winter and spring seasons than any other time of the year.  You can fight back the pain with a good diet and exercise.  As the weather turns colder, your joints stiffen up causing an increase in pain.  Regular exercise, such as walking will help loosen the muscles and reduce the feelings of pain.
